SÉMINAIRE "DESIGNING APPLICATIONS" PRÉSENTÉ PAR BART VERMEERSCH

  • Jeudi 19 janvier de 10h à 12h dans l’amphithéâtre F018.
  • Bart Vermeersch studied Physics at the University of Ghent (Belgium) and Université Paris-Sud (France). In 1996, after his graduation, he started working for Namahn (www.namahn.com ), a consultancy company specialized in designing digital solutions with the focus on the end-user. Mr. Vermeersch is now working as senior designer and project manager. In the past 15 years he has worked in very diverse domains (healthcare, aviation, utilities, finance...) but always with the same mission : design the best possible solution for a given problem taking into account the project constraints (budget, timing, technology, knowledge). Clients he has worked for are Sony, Euroclear, Agfa HealthCare, BNP Paribas Fortis, bpost, GDF Suez ...

This talk will give you an overview of the processes and tools that are being used at Namahn for designing applications supporting the needs of the end-user. Based on the experience of 100+ projects, successes and failures will be analysed and presented. This talk will discuss the importance of the project context and the unique approach each project requires. It will also explain how interaction designers need to cooperate with other project roles and which challenges they are facing in the current business context. The talk assumes you are familiar with User Centered Design techniques.
